With great attention to detail, this transformer is a faithful replica of the Marinair LO1166 transformer from the Neve 1073.
In this version, the goal was to copy the standard Lo 1166 version. For this purpose, we bought most current copies and replacement transformers of similar design. We noticed that none of them have the depth that the original LO1166 has.
It took us a year of testing and over 200 attempts to come to the conclusion why this is so.
Kratwerk VTX has, for other OPTs, an unattainable depth and extended high range comparing with the original Marinair lo1166 and as such represents an ideal combination of heritage and modern times.
This version has a standard secondary resistance of 20 + 20 ohm.
During the manufacturing process, we meticulously considered the smallest details, including:
Core material
Core dimensions
Laminations count
Coil size
The number of turns in each section
The winding technique for each section
Wire thickness
Number of turns
Number of turns per section
Insulation material between the windings
Insulation capacity between individual sections, the core and the windings, and between the primary and secondary
Primary and secondary inductance
Leakage inductance for both primary and secondary
As a result, our transformer was developed with specifications nearly identical to the original.
For this transformer, custom holders and molds for the custom coils were created.
The final outcome is the Kraftwerk 1166VTX, whose unique design is truly the icing on the cake.
